OMTRA manages the entire hardware disposition process: collection with serial number or barcode registration, secure transportation, device identification and classification, data media management, data wiping or physical destruction of storage media, and transfer of materials to authorized treatment and recycling operators, ensuring a complete and fully traceable chain of custody.
Data is securely erased through controlled and verifiable procedures, using professional software capable of providing evidence of successful data removal. Where required, hard drives, storage devices, USB flash drives and other data-bearing media can instead be physically destroyed either on-site or off-site. Upon completion of the activities, certificates, reports and documentary evidence of the operations performed are issued.
Assets are handled and stored exclusively by authorized personnel in accordance with defined and controlled procedures. Transportation is carried out using geolocated vehicles and dedicated security systems. Every handover and transfer of responsibility is recorded, ensuring the continuity of the chain of custody and full traceability of assets from collection and temporary storage through to their final destination.
Each stage of the process can be documented through records, reports and certificates. Upon request, destruction activities can also be video-recorded at the Client’s premises, at the OMTRA Records Center or directly on board the vehicle. The evidence produced makes it possible to reconstruct the activities performed and supports audits, security procedures, internal controls, compliance requirements and corporate reporting.
End-of-life IT assets are separated and transferred to authorized operators for the treatment and recycling of WEEE, in compliance with applicable regulations. The process combines information protection, proper hardware management and the recovery of recyclable materials, prioritizing material recovery wherever possible and contributing to the reduction of waste and environmental impact.

Materials generated through ITAD activities are directed towards responsible recovery and recycling processes. Through the OMTRA Green Report, we translate environmental results into indicators such as CO₂ emissions, water footprint, quantities of recovered materials and waste diverted from disposal, providing useful data to support the Client’s ESG objectives and circular economy strategies.
