Giovanna Spadoni and Giorgio Spadoni, respectively CEO and President of OMTRA Srl Società Benefit, a certified B Corp, met in Brussels with Pierfrancesco Maran, Member of the European Parliament and a member of the EU Internal Market Committee, with the goal of establishing a direct connection between Italian family businesses and the European Parliament.
Among the topics discussed was European legislation, which is often perceived as distant from the real needs of family enterprises. They also addressed climate change and its impact on industries, such as the increasing frequency of floods, which require infrastructure and strategic solutions that create local jobs rather than costly and repetitive emergency interventions.
Another key point of discussion was the B Corp movement, which, with its environmental and social goals—historically inspired by figures like Adriano Olivetti—is working to redefine the relationship between businesses, workers, and the global economy.
In this context, Italian MEPs play a crucial role in representing Italian businesses in Brussels. Beyond political divisions, opening a concrete channel for dialogue and exchange of opinions and expertise with the new European Commission and Parliament is essential to ensuring that the concerns of family businesses are considered early in the legislative process—before European directives are structured and become difficult to modify.
